Shape Development Group is a Pittsburgh-based general contractor that focuses on residential new construction and renovation, as well as multi-family and light commercial work. We specialize in challenging projects that require creative problem-solving. We have particular depth in publicly-funded projects that have complex reporting requirements, including bonding requirements, prevailing wage, and MBE-WBE participation.

Rege Makowski, Partner
Rege started Shape Development Group in 2017, with a mission of creating sustainable urban development in and around the city of Pittsburgh. Rege has been in the construction industry since 2002 when he began as an apprentice union carpenter. A natural motivator, Rege provides strategic vision for the company and oversees the day-to-day field operations. Rege was certified through PHIUS as a Passive House Builder in 2015.
Doug Van Haitsma, Partner
Doug has an extensive background in sales, management, and real estate development. Drawing on his 25+ years in the industry, Doug has been instrumental in developing over $50 million in real estate in the Pittsburgh region including complex developments with public financing, hard-to-develop sites and other challenging issues. Doug is primarily responsible for sales, project management and pre-construction services. Doug has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and was certified through PHIUS as a Passive House Builder in 2015.
